Brunei-Muara Converts Participate
In Religious Events

Begawan - A Quran recital, Ayat-Ayat Lazim memorising and
Nasyid competition for new converts in BruneiMuara District for the
year 2006 was held at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Kg Pulaie yesterday.
The competition is one of the annual
activities of the Islamic Dakwah Centre. This year, it was conducted
by the Islamic and Conversion Guidance Unit for New Converts and the
Islamic and Guidance Conservation Section.
The guest of honour at the function
was Acting Director of the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Awang Hj Mohammad
bin Garing. Also present was the Chairman of the ceremony, Dayang
Norain Binti Hj Mat Yassin.
The competition began with al-Quran
recital contest which was divided into male and female categories,
each seeing four participants vying for the cash prizes.
The event continued with the Nasyid
competition with four participating teams from the Nurul Islam
Association, Nur Izzul Islam 1 and Nur Izzul 2 as well as Nasyid Kelas
Bimbingan Muallaf. This was followed by the Ayat-Ayat Lazim memorising
event participated by three men and five women.
There was also a Tausyeh performance
presented by newly converted youths from Kg Bebuloh, Brunei-Muara
District.
The winners of the male and female
categories of al-Quran Reading competition will each win B$400 cash,
while the second and third winners in each category will walk away
with B$300 and B$200 respectively.
Winners of the Ayat-Ayat Lazim
memorising contest for both male and female categories will each
receive B$300 while the second and third winners will get B$200 and
B$160 respectively.
The winning team in the Nasyid
competition will get B$700 while the team which comes in second and
third will receive B$500 and B$400 respectively.
The winners of the Quran recital,
Ayat-Ayat Lazim memorising and Nasyid competition will represent
Brunei-Muara District in the national level competition to be held on
November 26 in Temburong District. .
The event ended with a doa selamat
