KACA Marks 20th Year With Walkabout

Bandar Seri Begawan - Five hundred people including special children, parents, KACA (Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Cacat) volunteers, and government agency officials walked around for two kilometres on the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan for a good cause during the KACA Walkathon 2006 yesterday.

The chief guests that took part in the charitable walkathon were Pehin Dato Awang Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman the Minister of Health, and Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Awang Hj Mohammad bin Hj Daud, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The KACA Walkathon 2006 was held in conjunction with its 20th anniversary. It began and finished at the Taman Haji Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien.

A 30-minute aerobics warm up exercise preceded the walkathon and was led by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Hj Abdul Alim bin Hj Othman, the KACA managing director and organising committee chairperson said, the turnout was very encouraging.

"We were expecting 800 people and there were some 500 people who joined the walkathon."

The walkathon aimed to raise funds for the programme of activities in conjunction with the 20th KACA anniversary.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
