HSBC Customers Feted At Raya
Banquet

Begawan - The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd
(HSBC), last night feted its top customers to a Hari Raya Banquet at
the Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Polo and Country Club as part of
their annual activity and appreciation gesture.
Organised
for over 600 of its top Muslim customers and guests, the event was
attended by pengiran-pengiran cheterias, cabinet ministers, deputy
ministers, permanent secretaries and top government officials as well
as prominent figures in the local business community.
Last night's banquet hosted by senior
executives and staff of HSBC led by CEO of HSBC Brunei, Mr Guy
Priestly, commenced with a welcoming speech by the bank's CEO. Mr
Priestly thanked the customers for making time to attend the event and
celebrate the season with HSBC.
He also noted that Hari Raya in
Brunei is a truly unique cultural event and it displays the true
spirit of warmth, hospitality and generosity unmatched in any other
country.
"It is in this spirit that HSBC
welcomes its guests tonight, to return with thanks a little of the
kindness we have received from the people of Brunei.
"This year has not been without its
challenges, as we all know; but the resourcefulness and resilience of
the HSBC team, and the loyalty of our customers have enabled us to
make it a success," Mr Priestly said.
He added that the bank was deeply
honoured His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam had consented to attend a dinner in honour of the monarch's
60"' 'birthday, which was the high point of a memorable year.
During the event, IISBC presented a
donation of $10,040 to the Pengiran Muda Al Muhtadee Billah Orphanage
Fund. Mr Priestly presented the donation to Managing Director of
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Dato Paduka Hi Ali Hashim Hi
Daud.
Performances during the event
included songs by HSBC staff, while local artiste Dk Sabariah belted
out her best-loved tunes.
Guest artiste Musly Ramlee was
specially flown in from Malaysia to entertain guests, and as a tribute
act to the late Tan Sri P.Rarlee, sang various songs from the late
actor's evergreen movies.
Musty also invited guests on stage
for an interactive game session where lucky guests won exciting prizes
such as an OSIM professional massage chair and LG High Definition LCD
