By James Kon Azaraimy HH

Bandar Seri Begawan - Maybank hosted a Malaysian-style "Open House" to celebrate Hari Raya with some 100 guests including the bank's customers and staff at the Jerudong Park and Polo Club yesterday afternoon.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous spread of local and Malaysian cuisine during the festive, event. The gathering was part of Maybank Group's community relation programme, which helps to foster closer ties between the bank's staff and its customers, said kncik Azizul A Rashid, the Country Head and General Manager of Mavbank Brunei.

"The open house celebration is a unique part of our cultural heritage that enables different communities to celebrate each other's festivities in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding of the richness of each other's culture," he said. Furthermore, it reinforces neighbourliness and goodwill as well as promotes peace and harmony in the community, he added.

Maybank has been in operation in Brunei since November 1960 and was the first overseas unit of Maybank. Maybank currently has three branches in the Sultanate. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
