Brunei Showcases Robotic Talent

Begawan - Bruneian students will be among the 195 teams from 17
countries to showcase their robotic talent in the 3rd World Robot
Olympiad from November 14 till 19 in Nanning, Guangxi province, China.
Brunei Darussalam is represented by
Abdul Hanif bin Abdul Manap, Muhammad Aqil Bin Hj Mahdini and Nur
Ayahiratul Zakiah Binti Zakaria of Sekolah Rendah Lumapas in the Robot
Soccer Goal (Primary) category while Dk Khairunnisa Nabilah Binti Pg
Dr Karim, Nur Syafiqah Binti Hj Simpol and Siti Aniza Binti Naim of
Sekolah Menengah PAP Hajah Masna will be taking part in the Robot
Adventure (Secondary) category.
Head of the delegation, Dayang
Satinah Binti Hj Abang, said, "We will try our best to grab medals for
the country." "This year's competition will be a tougher affair
especially with the participation of countries who are much more
advance in robotic technology," she added. "Our main hope is the
Primary team which has shown that their robot is capable of finishing
the task in the Robot Soccer Goal Category at the national level," she
said.
Accompanying the students to the
competition are Pengiran Omar Bin Pengiran Hj salleh, the supervising
teacher cum trainer for the Primacy team and Pengiran Md Ariffin Bin
Pg Hj Aliuddin, the supervising teacher cum trainer,for the Secondary
team.
A doa selamat and national flag
handing over ceremony for the Brunei delegation to the 3`d World Robot
Olympiad took place at the main conference hall (P 1) of the Ministry
of Education yesterday.
The guest of honour who presented the
national flag to the Brunei team was Dayang Hjh Aishah Binti Hj Mohd
Husain, Acting Director of the Curriculum Development Department.
In her speech, the Acting Director of
Curriculum Development said the Government of His Majesty through the
Ministry of Education has spent millions of dollar in providing
information and communications technology (ICT) facilities in schools
and ICT skills are a must for all students to acquire. Also present at
the function was Awang Hj Metali Bin Hj Mirasan, Acting Head of STEP
