Local Scientists Attend Tech Summit In New Delhi

Bandar Seri Begawan - Five local scientists from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) recently presented their papers at the 12th Technology Summit & Technology Platform (TSTP) in New Delhi.

Attending the November 6 - 7 summit were Dr Hj Ibrahim Hj Abdul Raman, Assoc Professor Dr Tan Kha Sheng, Dr Zohrah bte Sulaiman, Joffiy Bungsu and Dr Saiful Azmi Hj Hussein.

The Brunei delegation was led by Ministry of Development Director General Hj Mohd Zain bin Hj Mohd Salleh. The high-profile TSTP was sponsored by the government of India and organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry along with the Department of Science & Technology.

Over 450 participants from both Asean and India, together with their S & T ministers or representatives, attended the forum. During the event, indigenous technologies resulting from R & D work by Asean and Indian institutions were showcased.

Collaboration work between Asean and Indian R & D institutions were also initiated.

During the concluding session, Dr Tan Kha Sheng, Chairman of the Asean Subcommittee on Infrastructure and Resource Development (SCIRD) in S-& T - representing the chairman of Asean Committee on S & T (COST) - expressed his gratitude towards the Indian government on behalf of Asean COST for hosting and sponsoring the important technology summit between Asean and Indian S & T. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
