By Hjh Saemah Zulkefli

Kuala Belait - An Indonesian man was apprehended after he failed to produce a valid passport to officers who carried out a surprise inspection at a food stall in Kuala Belait yesterday morning.

According to the Law Enforcement Section of Kuala Belait Immigration Department, they had been keeping a close eye on the suspect. It is believed that the Indonesian national was working at the stall under a social visit pass.

More than 50 foreign workers comprising those from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand, were checked as officers carried out inspections at several locations including food stalls, construction sites and a sawmill.

The operation codenamed "Berkas 110" was led by the Senior Immigration Officer who was accompanied by six officers from the department.

The department said they will continue to carry out inspections to locate immigration offenders. The public can assist the department by calling hotline 3331879, 3341938, 2383555 or 2383777 during office hours. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
