Thai Prime Minister Meets Brunei

Begawan - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah the Sultan
of Brunei this afternoon held a four-eye meeting with the Prime
Minister of Thailand,General Surayud Chulanont.

The meeting took place at the Istana
Nurul Iman.
His Majesty the Sultan was on
hand to welcome General Surayud Chulanont at Istana Nurul Iman.
Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Masna, the Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Trade.
His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei
held a four-eye meeting with His Excellency General Surayud
Chulanont.
The Thai Prime Minister’s visit
to Brunei was part of his tour to ASEAN countries after his
appointment as the Prime Minister on October 1.
His Majesty also hosted a
luncheon for the Thai Prime Minister. Members of the Thai
delegation include the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of
Finance, M-R Pridiyathorn Devakula; Minister of Foreign |

Affairs, His Excellency Mr Nitya
Pibulsonggram and the Minister of Labour, His Excellency Mr Apai
Chandanachulaka.
This was the second meeting
between His Majesty and the Thai Prime Minister. His Majesty held
talks with the visiting dignitary at the end of last month when
the two leaders attended the commemorative summit marking the 15th
anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-China dialogue in
Naning, China.

in the country this morning. |
He was welcomed at the Brunei
International Airport by the Minister of Health Pehin Dato Haji Suyoi
as Minister-in-Attendance and the Deputy Minister at the Prime
Minister's Office, Dato Eusoff Agaki.
On arrival,General Chulanont walked
past a Static Guard mounted by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
General Surayud Chulanont and
delegation is in the country for a one day visit.
Also included in the delegation were
the Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Minister
of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Labour. Thailand established its
consulate general in Bandar Seri Begawan in 1983 and in the same year
Brunei Darussalam opened its government representative's office in
Bangkok and upgraded to embassies in 1984.
Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon, the
Prime Minister of Thailand, His Excellency General Surayud Chulanont,
left the country on the completion of his one-day visit to the
Sultanate.
Present at the Brunei International
Airport to bid farewell were the Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Haji
Awang Suyoi who's is the Minister-in-attendance and the Deputy
Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Eusoff Agaki. Over the
past two decades, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand have enjoyed close
and warm bilateral relations at all levels of the government and
people.
The strong bilateral ties between
both countries extended in various fields encompassing the trade and
investment, services, education, defence and agriculture.
