Call To Open More Immigration
Counters At Kuala Lurah Border Post
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei's border post of Kuala Lurah has seen longer
queues lately as travellers travelled to Limbang town and beyond for
shopping or other purposes, causing many motorists to call for the
opening of more immigration counters.
The extra counters would help save
time and enable vehicles to pass through the post faster. "With
upcoming festivities and holiday season next month, it is hoped that
more counters can be opened to cater for the increasing number of
vehicles and passengers at the border," they stated.
They added that it is now common to
see vehicles travelling at excessive speed towards the border post
especially on their way back in an effort to beat long queues at the
counters.
"By opening more counters to relieve
the increasingly common congestion, motorists need not drive fast or
endanger people's lives," they said.
According to staff members at the
border post of Kuala Lurah, as many as 600 vehicles pass through it,
especially during weekends and public holidays. The number of vehicles
during any weekday meanwhile could be as many as 300, they added.
