Education Minister Calls For
Better Facilities, Teaching Quality

Begawan - Minister of Education Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul
Rabman yesterday visited Lambak Kanan Primary School and Dato Basir
Primary School as part of an ongoing inspection of the infrastructure
and teaching quality at schools and colleges in the country.
At Lambak Kanan Primary School, the
minister was briefed by headmaster Cikgu Hajah Jeriah bte Hj Duraman,
during which a few matters were raised, including the school's
background, academic programmes, students' achievements in public
examinations, and issues and challenges faced by the school amid its
growing population.
Accompanying the minister during his
visit yesterday were his deputy as well as deputy permanent
secretaries, directors and senior officials of the Ministry of
Education.
A discussion was also held, where the
minister reminded the school of the importance of adequate
infrastructure and better quality of teaching. He also called for
cleanliness at school toilets and compounds as well as the safety of
the children.
Later, the minister planted a tree to
commemorate his visit to the school.
Meanwhile, on arrival at Dato Basir
Primary School, the minister and his entourage were greeted by
headmaster Hjh Dyg Sarimah bte Hj Awg Bakir, who later briefed the
visitors on the history of the school and its facilities as well as
programmes and activities aimed at assisting the students achieve
