DPMMC FC Championship
By Alex How
Bandar Seri
Begawan - DPMM FC emerged as the champions of the DPMM FC
Four-team Football Championship after they were held to a 2-2 draw by
ABDB at the Jerudong Mini Stadium last night.
DPMM
FC snatched a point after the draw to stay top with seven points,
while QAF FC who whipped Sabah FA 8-2 in the afternoon fixture,
finished second place.
ABDB
had a brilliant start when Budiman Jumat slotted in an early goal in
the 5th minute courtesy of a mistake made by DPMM FC's keeper Pg Hj
Hamzah Pg Hj Abd Rahman.
The Malaysian Super League team moved
forward but was left frustrated after they failed to beat the
organised ABDB defence which was marshalled by captain Ak Mahalie Pg
Hj Sulaiman.
DPMM
FC strikers Fadlin Galawat, Rodrigo Antonio Lombardo Tosi and
Shahrazen bin Hj Mohd Said were caught offside several times. Their
efforts was finally paid off when Shahrazen headed in the equaliser in
the penalty box from Tosi's cross in the 27th minute. After the
breather, Budiman made no mistake in the 55`h minute to put ABDB 2-1
in front. Budiman later was awarded the man-of-the-match for his
performance.
Tosi
again done it brilliantly for DPMM FC after he unselfishly headed a
set piece by captain Rosmin Hj Mohd Khamis to Rene Komar in the box.
Komar
equalised in close range to tie 2-2 with ABDB. Komar won the Best
Player award for his performance throughout the match.
On hand to present the prizes was the
guest-of-honour YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul
Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim. -- Courtesy of Borneo
