Stamps Gallery To Mark 100th B-Day Of Postal Service

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Stamps Gallery was yesterday launched by Minister of Communications Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong at the General Post Office in the capital, in conjunction with the 100' anniversary of Brunei Postal Services.

Aimed at promoting postal products, the gallery houses an assortment of stamps by the Postal Services Department, including commemorative, definitive and thematic stamps, which record important historical events of the country.

Meanwhile, the minister, in his welcoming speech, said the opening of the Stamps Gallery will encourage the public to take up stamp collection, and hopefully boost revenues for the government.

He added that the Postal Services Department is currently planning various programmes and activities to encourage people to become avid stamp collectors. Among the programmes include those targeting primary school students.

Besides the gallery, the minister also launched the 100'' anniversary of Postal Services stamps. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
