Deputy Minister Of Religious Affairs Visits Belait Converts

Bandar Seri Begawan - Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin . bin Pengarah Dato Haji Othman yesterday paid a visit to the homes of new converts in Belait District, organised by the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Also accompanying the deputy minister were Assistant Belait District OffcerAwang Sahminan binAwang Tengah, Head of Belait Religious Office Pengiran Haji Yunus bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Assistant Director of Islamic Dakwah CentreAwang Haji Mohammad bin Garing and other senior officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Among the converts that the deputy minister visited were Pehin Datu Awang Haji Muhammad Ali bin Abdullah Itam in Kampong Lumut-Tersusun, Awang Haji Mohd Kassim bin Abdullah and Awang Sulaiman bin Abdullah - both in Kampong Sungai Bakong,-Lumut.

The delegation then made a stop at the residence of Awang Haji Hamdi bin Mat Isa, president of Sinar IslamAssociation for new converts in Belait District, in Kampong Sungai Liang.

The visit ended at the home of acting village chief of Kampong Bukit Sawat Dr Haji Ismail bin Opak, who embraced Islam in 1971. The main aim of yesterday's visit was to strengthen the ties between new converts, government personnel and the community. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
