Experts from Japan are giving talks on topics such as `-Cleaner Production Processes and Technologies' and `Introducing EMS Based on the ISO System' and others. There are 27 people from Asean countries attending the event.

The Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Itsuo Hashimoto, explained that the objective of Japan's contribution to this useful training programme is to promote a wider adoption of cleaner production and environmental management systems by industries in the Asean region.

The training programme is designed to help participants from human resource development organisations in Asean countries to better understand the concept and practices of cleaner production and to build their capacity to design and implement training programmes on environmental- management in their respective organisations.

AOTS was founded in 1959 with the approval of the Government of Japan as the country's first organisation to promote technical cooperation in the private sector.

Since then, AOTS has been implementing useful training projects to support the development of human resources for the industrial development in developing countries. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
