receives BSP sponsorship

Begawan - The Language and Literature Bureau yesterday held a
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) sponsorship presentation
ceremony at the Language and Literature Bureau, Old Airport.
Attending the event was Dr Mataim bin
Bakar, Director of Language and Literature Bureau, Ministry of Culture
Youth and Sports, and Haji Mohd Zaini bin Haji Awang Omar, Corporate
External Affairs Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd, Dayang Aminah
binti Haji Momin, Deputy Director of Language and Literature Bureau.
Also present were officers from the
Language and Literature Bureau.
Last year, some 40 "Cerpen" (Short
Story) were published by 27 writers in the Bahana' magazine.
Meanwhile, "Genre Puisi" produced by
71 creative male writers and 48 female writers have also published
some 312 poems. In addition, 14 "Pantun" (Poetry) have been published
which was produced by 10 writers, while some 18 Genre "Syair" were
produced by 14 writers.
The Language and Literature Bureau
will be holding a prize presentation of "Bahana" creativity BSP-DBP
2005 on November 16, which will be held at the Balai Sarmayuda
Language and Literature Bureau at Old Airport, Berakas.
The guest of honour at the event will
be Dr Mataim bin Bakar. Presenting prizes for "Bahana" creatives is
one of the Language and Literature Bureau Department's annual
projects.
The project has been organised since
1989 and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company began sponsoring the project
since 1998. The best five "Cerpen" (Short Story) will be chosen for
the honorary prizes, meanwhile in the Genre poem category five poetry
one Quatrain and one "Syair" will also be chosen and awarded honorary
prizes.
Yesterday's event concluded with the
presentation of a cheque to Dr Mataim by Haji Mohd Zaini, as well as a
