65-Year-Old Woman's Home Swept In
Flames

Begawan - It was a gloomy Hari Raya for a 65-year-old woman
whose house was gutted in flames yesterday morning. Dyg Rosni bte
Abdullah was at her paddy field with her two Indonesian workers when
fire ravaged her wooden bungalow.
Her daughter-in-law staying nearby
saw the two-bedroom house burst into flames and immediately called the
fire emergency line at about 8.15 am.
Fortunately no injuries or casualties
were reported. Dyg Rosni was staying at the house with her two
Indonesian workers at Kg Sungai Lalit, Lumut and owns a paddy and
maize field located within the vicinity of her home. Dyg Rosni was
devastated as she returned to discover that her house was being
reduced to ashes as a result of the fire.
A team of Fire and Rescue personnel
led by Deputy Commanding Officer Operation B Supt Mohd Azanisham bin
Abdullah were soon deployed at the scene and managed to put out the
fire within a short period of time.
Also present at the site were Belait
District Officer Awg Hj Mohamad bin Hj Abd Rahman, Ketua Kampong Lumut
1 Awg Hj Mohd Shafiee Ahmad and JAPE' officials.
The house was located 200 metres away
from the main road. The total loss due to the fire was estimated at
about B$30,000. One of the workers managed to save his passport while
the other didn't. According to a Fire and Rescue official, the fire
was an "incendiary incident" as the house had no electrical power
