Thai PM To Visit Brunei Tomorrow

Bangkok - Thailand's army-installed premier will visit Brunei and Singapore this week in a fresh round of diplomatic visits aimed at reassuring neighbours after the recent coup, the government said Tuesday.

Surayud Chuanont will travel to Brunei's capital early Thursday and is scheduled to meet with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam before leaving for Singapore later in the day.

"Prime Minister Surayud will make official visits to Singapore and Brunei on November 9 at the invitation of the governments of those countries," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

"Surayud aims to explain the political situation in Thailand to his counterpart in Brunei and the government's attempt to deal with violence in the south with peaceful means," the statement said.

Sources said Surayud will brief Brunei about the political situations in Thailand and the government's attempts to solve the violence in the southern provinces by peaceful means. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
