Police Patrol Vehicle Collides With Saloon Car, Four Injured

Bandar Seri Begawan - An accident involving two vehicles occurred at the U-turn in Mukim Tanah Jambu on the Muara-Tutong Highway injuring one personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force from the Patrol and Traffic Unit and three students in their early 20s using another vehicle on Saturday night.

Two of the male students travelling in a saloon car sustained injuries but are said to be in a stable condition. The third, a female, is reportedly in a critical condition with serious injuries.

The Police personnel is hospitalised after having sustained abrasions on his chest caused by the safety belt and a fracture on his right wrist.

The Police received an emergency 993 call at 9.34pm from the public and deployed personnel from Muara-Police Station, Marine Police Station and Berakas Police Station. The Muara Fire Station received a call at 9.44pm and sent two fire engines and eight Fire and Rescue personnel to the scene. An ambulance and paramedics from the RIPAS Hospital were also at the scene.

The Police Patrol car, a 4WD vehicle, was carrying three Police personnel at the time of the incident. Both the 4WD and the saloon car were badly damaged. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
