RBLF Holds 45th Anniversary Parade

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) in commemoration of its 45th Anniversary held a parade yesterday morning at the First Battalion Parade Square of the RBLF in Berakas Garrison.

In attendance as the event's guest of honour was the Commander of RBLF, Col Pg Dato Paduka Hj Rosli Pg Hj Chuchu who also inspected around 500 personnel from all RBLF units headed by the Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion RBLF, Major Hj Abd Ghani Hj Abdullah.

This year's anniversary carries the theme "Unity Strengthens the Nation's Defence" (Bersepadu Memperkukuh Pertahanan Negara) that emphasises the importance of unity not only among members of RBLF but also with other services of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, other security agencies as well as the public.

In his speech, the Commander of RBLF said that all levels of leadership in RBLF must play their parts in ensuring their personnel are well-trained, and reminded RBLF personnel to be well-disciplined so as to gain the trust of the community. The "Heart and Minds Projects" will also be enhanced to maintain rapport with the public, the RBLF Commander added.

Yesterday's event also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the first and second teams of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) to Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines.

Yesterday's parade was one of the activities that had been lined up in conjunction with the anniversary, where among the events held and to be held are religious functions, a blood donation campaign, charity projects, a sports event and the cleaning up of a Muslim cemetery. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
