Fined For Stealing Buffalo

Begawan - Four local men were each fined B$3,500 or to serve
three months in jail in default after pleading guilty to thieving
buffaloes.
The Bandar Magistrate's Court heard
that the defendants were 35-year-old Pg Hj Ali Hassan bin Pg Hj Munap,
Pg Mohd Zaki bin Pg Hj Munap, 33, Pg Sabtu bin Pg Hj Budin and Hj
Hasrin bin Hj Aman, both aged 26.
The men stole three buffaloes worth
B$5,000 from a 70-year-old man in Kg Burong Lepas, Jalan Bengkurong
Masin on September 15, 2006.
They walked the buffaloes out of
their dwelling to Pg Hj Ali Hassan and Pg Mohd Zaki's house in Jalan
Balai Raya, the court heard.
The next day, Pg Hj Ali Hassan
slaughtered one of the buffaloes and sold the meat to a stall in Kg
Sengkurong for the public.
The other two buffaloes were
slaughtered the following day and sold to the same stall.
Proceeds from the buffalo meat
amounting to B$3,000 were divided among the defendants, the court was
