Her Majesty Celebrates Girl Guides

Begawan - Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha
advised Girl Guides to create more fruitful projects and develop
creativity and innovation. She made the call in her titah at the 55th
anniversary of the Girl Guides Association yesterday at the Royal
Berkshire Hall of Jerudong Park and Country Club.
"I hope that the Girl Guides
Association can continue to execute more activities and projects for
the benefits of the youth and community," she said at the Girl Guide
Day 2006, which was attended by Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak
Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah.
Also present at the ceremony were
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran mini Hajah Faezah binti Dato Haji Nasir, Her
Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal
Hihness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, Yang Teramat Mulia
Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum and Yang
Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Noor Ehsani binti
Al-Marhum Sultan Abroad Tajuddin Akazul Khairi Waddien.
Her Majesty, who is also the Royal
Patron of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Associal ion, said the
group should also increase exercises that would promote the expertise
of young guiders and encourage them to develop creativity and
innovation because they would be I lie future leaders in the country.
Her Majesty said she was proud to see
the progress of the association that had matured and successfully
adjusted itself to changes of circumstances from time to time Her
Majesty praised the association's efforts to strengthen the ties
between it's members and other associations and nongovernmental
organisations in the country, including the World Association of Girl
Guides and Scouts.
She also expressed that the law of
the girl guides was the quality that should be infused amongst all of
them and the rest of the youths in the country.
The chief commissioner of the Brunei
Girl Guide Association, Hajah Siti Hafsah binti Haji Abdul Halim, said
in her opening remark that Her Majesty's interest in the development
of Girl Guides would motivate them to be more active and optimistic in
their activities.
Yesterday's ceremony began with a
loyalty pledge, followed with the National Girl Guide songssung by a
choir that also included Her Majesty's eldest granddaughter Yang Amat
Mulia Pengiran Anak Raheemah Sanaul Bolkiah.
At the ceremony, Her Majesty awarded
a certificate of appreciation to Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah
Masna, who has been the President of the Girl Guide Association of
Brunei since 1983.
Receiving the award on behalf of Her
Royal Highness was Datin Paduka Hajah Jusnani bind Haji Lawie, the
advisor of the Girl Guide Association of Brunei Darussalam.
Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri
Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Noor Ehsani hind Al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad
Tajudin Akazul Khairi Waddien, was also awarded a similar award for
being State Commissioner of the Guide's since 1963 to 1970.
Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak
Hajah Saleha also presented the Golden Badge of 20 years long service
to Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and three other recipients.
The highlight of the event was the
Cake Cutting Ceremony for the Girl Guide's Day 2006 by Her Majesty.
