Philippine Embassy Hosts Farewell Dinner

Bandar Seri Begawan - A farewell dinner for Philippine Embassy Finance Officer, Saula P Cruz, was hosted by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Virginia H Benavidez at her official residence, Ang Bahay, in Rimba.

Ambassador Benavidez cited her key officer's efforts, foresight and anticipation in the pursuit of her duties and in keepingg sensitive embassy matters under tight lid "during her long years of service" in Brunei.

"We are not saying goodbye, but till we meet again. I'm not only seeing Saula off at the Brunei airport, I'm coming with her on the same flight to Manila," the ambassador told the honouree's specially chosen coterie of embassy officials, accountants and friends.

In response, Saula, who came to Brunei in July 2000, said, "All of you who graced this auspicious moment have at some point in my life, in my service and stint in Brunei, provided me the inspiration I needed most to perform my responsibilities in the Philippine Embassy to the best that I can deliver.

"Despite my being away from my loved ones back home, you have proven to myself that you indeed became my true friends as you became my second best family. These will always be fond memories to be remembered and treasured throughout my life. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
