Local Farmers, Entrepreneurs To
Join Maha 2006

Begawan - Some 26 local farmers and cottage industry
entrepreneurs are set to attend the Malaysian Agriculture,
Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Show (Maha) 2006 in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia on November 21-26 in the effort to obtain latest farming
equipment and knowledge.
The local entrepreneurs, led by ADSB
director Haji Matzin Salleh, will be travelling to Kuala Lumpur on
November 23.
Maha
2006 will also be participated by companies from Australia, China,
Germany, Holland, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, the
United Kingdom, the United States, South Korea, and Vietnam.
The biennial event will be held at
the new RM230 million Malaysia Agro-Exposition Park in Serdang, at the
heart of Putrajaya.
Spanning over 80 hectares, the
six-day event is set to attract more than 500,000 visitors and will be
launched by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Out of the 800 exhibition booths, 60
per cent will be occupied by Malaysian governmental entities and
companies.
It will also showcase the latest
developments in the fields of biotechnology, molecular science, food
patent and trademark issues, machinery, horticulture and agro-tourism.
Among the items that will be
displayed include fresh and processed products, value-added products
such as fish, livestock, fruits, frozen foods, herbs, traditional
medicines, machinery, and handicrafts.
China, being the first country to
have a guest nation pavilion, is expected to display its products,
particularly agricultural machinery, fertilisers and animal products
as well as present working papers.
The event is expected to generate new
- and reinforce - old business relationships, explore new business
opportunities, launch new products and services, and network with
fellow industry professionals.
One of the main objectives of Maha
2006 is to transform Malaysia into the centre of agricultural
development excellence and agricultural-based industry so as to
