Raya And Fact-Finding Visit To Temburong

Temburong - The Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri SetiaAwang Hj Adanan, paid a working and Hari Raya visit to the residences of penghulu mukims and village heads in Temburong District yesterday.

His first stop was the residence of the Acting District Officer of Temburong Awang Hj Mohd Abdoh Bin Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Salam, where the minister also got together with the penghulus, village heads, longhouse chiefs and heads of branches and departments of Temburong.

Among those in the minister's delegation were Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awang Hj Dani, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretary and heads of departments under the Ministry of Home of Affairs.

Next-on the itinerary was the residence of the Village Head of Kampong Senukuh, Mukim La u, Awang Akbar @ Ali Akbar bin Hj Abd Hamid where the minister met with the Village Consultative Council members and residents.

He then visited the residence of Orang Kaya SetiaAhmad Bin Hj Lakim, Penghulu of Mukim Batu Apoi where the minister also had a chance to mingle with the Village and Mukim Consultative Council members.

Another stop was the residence of Awang Hj Sulaiman bin Hj Ahad, Village Head of Kampong Belingos. After visiting the residence of Penghulu Mukim Amo, the minister and his delegation performed the Zohor prayers at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque Pekan Bangar Temburong.

Before ending the visit the minister and his delegation got together with residents and Village Consultative Council members of Kampong Menengah, MengaluPanjang Tanjong Bungar. On hand to welcome the minister was Awang Bin Mahathir @ Ampuan Russian Bin Ampuan Mahathir, Village Head of Kampong Menengah.

The Temburong District has a population of 8,870 with most areas equipped with modern facilities such as telephone lines, electricity, water supply and good roads.

Apart from strengthening the relations with the Temburong residents, the visit also enabled the minister to learn about the latest developments and the welfare of the people in the district.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
