JIS Students Get Dental Check Up

Begawan - Jerudong International School (JIS) students are
currently receiving free dental check up services conducted by
Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), which began November 1.
The dental check up service is part
of the medical centre services for the school to promote and educate
students, aged between three and 19 years, on the importance of dental
hygiene, including identifying dental treatments.
The dental examination covers all
childhood dental issues such as dental hygiene status of the child,
need for professional cleaning of teeth, presence of decayed, missing
or filled teeth, need for fluoride therapy and sealants as preventive
protocol for dental decay.
In addition, the check up also
touches on the need for root treatment, teeth and assessment of
condition of the gums, need for extractions of grossly decayed milk
teeth and Orthodontic treatment for correction of mat posed teeth for
students aged between 10 to 15 years.
JPMC
Dental Department is conducting three screening sessions during the
week for JIS students between 8.30am and 12.30pm. Each session will'
cover about 25 to 40 students.
Prior to each examination, the
parents or guardians of the students wit l be required to provide
consent for their children to be examined.
After each examination, the child's
treatment needs would be identified in a screening chart and will be
handed over to the parents or guardians through their children. -- Courtesy of Borneo
