UBD To Hold Seminar On Malay Drama
Literature
By Azrol Azmi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Both drama and theatre provide a means of
understanding the human life from various aspects. However, in regard
to literature, they have not garnered as much attention as they
should.
In view of this, the Department of
Malay Literature, Faculty of Arts and Social. Science, Universiti
Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has decided to organise a seminar entitled
`Seminar Kesusasteraan: Drama Melayu di Nusantara' which carries the
theme `Drama Sebagai Wadah Pembangunan Manusia dan KemajuanNegara.'
The seminar will be held at the UBD
Chancellor Hall Senate Room from November 7 to 8. The event will put
forward local and foreign scholars with expertise in this area.
They will present their ideas and new
discoveries, as well as encourage drama enthusiasts - such as script
and performance art writers - to share their knowledge in line with
the theme of the seminar.
The seminar will benefit the
participants - which will include teachers, UBD undergraduates,
students, writers and drama enthusiasts - by enriching their
understanding, experience and knowledge in these areas.
This will subsequently ensure drama
activities in Brunei Darussalam will gain more attention and thus
develop in line with other countries.
Registration is open to all
interested parties at a fee of $30 for members of the public and $15
per student.
Interested parties are advised to
sign up during the Registration Session on Monday, November 6, between
2 pm and 4.30 pin at the UBD Meeting Room 1.89, First Floor, Faculty
of Arts and Social Sciences.
