Info Dept Fostering Ties With Community Leaders

Bandar Seri Begawan - Eighteen officers and staff of the Information Department, Prime Minister's Office visited two houses of community leaders at Kampong Ayer yesterday to promote the spirit of unity amid the Hari RayaAidilfitri festivities.

The delegation, led by Information Department Acting Deputy Director Awang Haji Yussof bin Haji Ladi, visited the homes of Mukim Tamoi penghulu Pengara(i Haji Mokti bin Md Salleh and Mukim Sungai Kebun village chiefAwang Haji Kharnis bin Haji Metassan.

Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by the community leaders and was treated to an assortment of food and drinks.

The visit, entitled "Majlis Majlis Ramah Mesra Pengarah Penerangan Sempena Hari Raya Aidilfitri", was aimed at fostering closer ties' and understanding between the department and the communities leaders.

During the visit, the community leaders provided outputs to the Information Department delegates on various issues besieging the population in the two areas.

The visit also aimed at allowing community leaders to make contributions towards national development and progress.

The visiting of selected mukims and villages in the four districts is an annual project of the Information Department which began in 2003.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
