SEAMEO VOCTECH, DTE Ink MoU

Begawan - SEAMEO VOCTECH and the Department of Technical
Education (DTE) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
for the "VTET Information and Knowledge Management Network" project.
The MoU provides the basic framework,
where the SEAMEO VOCTECH will collaborate with DTE to strengthen and
broaden cooperation in the implementation of the project.
Signing on behalf of SEAMEO VOCTECH
was Acting Director Awg Mohamad bin Abu Bakar, while the DTE was
represented by Acting Director Awg Jamal bin Hj Kahar. The signing
ceremony was held at the Dewan Teratai of SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional
Centre.

Mohamad said that the project would create a VTET. Knowledge
Management Network to enhance inter-institutions' collaboration and
thus improve the teaching-learning process in VTET institutions.
Among other things, it is hoped that
the project would lead to the setting up of an online learning
management system and content management system.
Meanwhile, Awg Jamal said that the
DTE was currently in the process of reviewing and revising its
management and administration system to ensure that the department
would be able to carry out its mandate effectively towards realising
its vision and mission.
"The collaboration with SEAMEO
VOCTECH is timely and important as the DTE will be able to interact
and exchange ideas so that new approaches can be shared and applied in
various activities to achieve quality, efficiency and effectiveness in
their daily tasks," the acting director of DTE said.
Following the signing ceremony, the
project was officially launched.
Among those involved in the project
are DTE, PAP Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Nursing College, Jefri Bolkiah
Engineering College, Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College, Business
School, Mechanical Training Centre, Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School,
Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School and Wasan Vocational School. -- Courtesy of Borneo
