Education Minister Visits 2 Schools

Bandar Seri Begawan - Education Minister Pehin Dato Awg Hj Abdul Rahman said providing education facilities that could accommodate students comfortably in the future is one of the central priorities of his ministry.

He said this during a working visit to SR Orang Kaya Setia Bakti in Kilanas and SR Sengkurong yesterday.

His visit was aimed at knowing and having a closer look at students' transportation, school administration affairs, academic programme and staff development, achievement in public examination and issues and challenges faced by these schools.

His visit to SR Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Kilanas started with a briefing by Principal Cikgu Dyg Hajah Jijah bte Hj Othman.

In a discussion session, the education minister urged the school to increase its efforts in raising the quality of learning. Tie interacted with the students and visited classes, computer laboratories and the school hall.

At SR Sengkurong, the minister was greeted and briefed by Principal Cikgu Hajah S4ti Mahrum bte Hj Abdul Halim. He discussed with the school principal and senior teachers the school's background, development and achievement, activities and its plans for the future.

They also discussed amenities in the school, the school building condition that needs care, the need for additional toilets, and adequate classrooms.

As a remembrance of the visit to SR Sengkurong, the minister planted a tree in the school compound. He also visited classrooms, computer labs, special rooms and the school library.

With the minister were Deputy Minister of Education Pengiran Dato Dr Hj Mohammad bin Pengiran Hj Abdul Rahman, deputy permanent secretaries, directors and senior officers at the Ministry of Education. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
