3 Immigration Offenders Detained

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Filipino women were arrested by the Belait Immigration Enforcement officials on suspicion of possessing forged endorsement passport chops.

A Thai man who failed to produce a valid document was also arrested and detained for investigation.

Fifty foreign workers were inspected by 10 Immigration officials led by its Acting Chief on Monday night in the operation codenamed 'Berkas 107'.

Workers from Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Philippines living in five rented houses in Seria and Lumut areas were also inspected.

Meanwhile special passes were issued to two Indonesians, which require their presence at the enforcement office for further clarification of their original passports.

The continuous operation is being conducted to detect immigration offenders and ensure foreign workers abide with the laws and conditions enforced in the country.

The raid that started at 10:30pm lasted four hours. The Immigration Enforcement Section said it will continue to conduct patrols and inspections from time to time.
