Bag Snatched In Shopping Complex

Bandar Seri Begawan - A snatch and theft case was recorded in a shopping complex, the second reported this week, prompting the police to warn the public to be extra careful with their belongings.

A man who was shopping in Serusop had his bag taken by force by an unidentified suspect who ran away. A few days ago, a child's necklace was snatched when she was left alone while her mother went shopping in Gadong.

In the last four days, the police said two cars, a Mazda and a Hyundai reported missing recently, were recovered. A local man linked to one missing car case was arrested.

Four men were detained in connection with this week's theft cases. One house was broken into in Mumong by-pass. Five theft cases were recorded in Kg. Setia `A', fish market in Tanjung Pelumpong in Muara, PWD flat in Seria, a hospital and a restaurant in Pandan 5 in Belait.

Items lost were a metre of electric cable, fan, boat and its engine. Six theft cases were recorded in Kg Subok, a shop in Pandan 5 area in Belait, UBD area, the QAF Transport workshop, a school canteen in Muara and on Jln Sultan Omar Ali in Seria. Items lost were two laptops, four gas cylinders, stove, and over 120 copies of Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata newspapers.

One fraud, four vandalism, three assault cases, one trespassing, one forgery involving an official stamp of a firm, one demoralisingg act case, two cases of possessing and selling obscene VCDs, one sudden death involving a foreign national and one nuisance SMS case were also reported.

Other complaints included a labour act case, one religious act case, and one misuse of drugs act involving a man and a woman.

Two customs cases involving a man as well as five immigration cases involving three foreign women and six men were also reported.

Thirty-three car accident cases were recorded with one death, one sustaining serious and one sustaing minor injuries. Twenty one accidents were recorded in Brunei/Muara District, seven in Belait, and five in Tutong.

The police once again reiterated the need to shut off gas cylinders when leaving home during Hari Raya, switch off electrical appliances, lock doors and windows and be extra careful while driving. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
