Baiduri Bank Boosts Financial
Planning Services

Begawan - Baiduri Bank yesterday held a-graduation ceremony for
a group of 23 personal financial planners including six branch
managers who have successfully completed the Certificate in Financial
Planning Programme offered by the Singapore College of Insurance.
Present at the ceremony was the guest
of honour, Awg Hj Rozan Bin Dato Paduka Hj Mohammad, Deputy Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. Karine Kam, Executive Director
of the Singapore College of Insurance, presented the certificates to
the participants.
Speaking at the function, Pierre
Imhof, General Manager ofBaiduri Bank, said, "Since the beginning of
this year, we have made a strong progress in promoting personnel
financial planning and encouraging Bruneians to save and invest for
the future through our newly established wealth management unit."
He added, "Internally we want to
ensure a high degree of professionalism and financial proficiency
among our staff, in particular those who offer wealth management
products to our customers.
"To take this step further, we
introduced the Certificate in Financial Planning programme in August
this year. This is part of Baiduri Bank's ongoing effort to enhance
the skills and competencies of our staff. It is also in line with the
new requirement mandated by the Brunei International Financial Centre
(BIFC), which stipulates that only qualified staff members are
permitted to offer mutual funds to customers."
He said that through this programme,
Baiduri Bank staff would develop expertise and confidence in key
aspects` of wealth management and financial planning.
The programme will also form an
integral part of Baiduri Bank's comprehensive training curriculum for
staff who are involved in offering investment products to customers.
The certificate programme was
conducted by the Singapore College of Insurance, a leading institution
actively involved in financial services education and the
certification of insurance sales professional and insurance
practitioners.
The College offers a wide range of
professional designations including the Chartered Financial Consultant
(ChFC) and the Chartered Life Underwriter designations.
The Certificate in Financial Planning
Programme provides financial professionals with advanced financial
planning knowledge and skills so that they are able to better assist
their customers.
Upon completion of the programme,
participants will be qualified to assist individual customers in
assessing their financial standing, identifying their finances, wealth
management and retirement planning.
The course paves the way to the
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) qualification, which has been
awarded to more than 40,000 professionals worldwide.
This is the most extensive education
available for a professional designation in financial consulting,
providing the necessary knowledge for professionals to apply a
comprehensive financial planning process to the full range of customer
goals.
At present, Baiduri Bank offers two
mutual funds, namely the SGAM Bonus Builder Fund and the SGAM
Singapore Dividend Growth Fund.
It also offers a structured deposit,
the Baiduri Twin Currency Deposit, and AIA endowment plans under its
