From Kuching
By Achong Tanjong
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The beautiful scenery, colourful culture and friendly
people in the country continues to attract many tourists from overseas
to the Sultanate every year.
One of them is Vincent Wong, a
businessman from Kuching, who recently made a brief tour of the
capital on his way to Limbang.
During the stop-over, he visited
Kampong Ayer and had a closer look at the unique lifestyle of the
water-village residents.
He was welcomed to Hari Raya open
houses and served with Brunei traditional cakes and snacks by Muslims
who are in the middle of celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
"I was impressed with the hospitality
and friendliness of the people here," said Mr Wong who first visited
Brunei some 17 years ago.
"Brunei has changed a lot. There are
now better freeways (highways), more hotels and definitely more cars
on the road and more shopping complexes."
Apart from Kampong Ayer, he also
visited the Arts and Handicrafts Centre and the Jame 'Asr Hassanil
Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Kiarong.
Mr
Wong was so impressed with the beautiful scenery and colourful culture
as well as friendly people in the country that that he is planning
another trip to Brunei with a group of friends.

Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, a landmark in the capital that is always
visited by foreign tourists, is the largest and most magnificent
mosque in Brunei with its grand shimmering golden domes and
