Good Deed Turns Into Tragedy

Begawan - A man, who was just trying to do a good deed, died
yesterday after helping to push-start a broken down car.

Kanaga Sabai, a 54-year-old Indian national, suddenly collapsed after
he and a friend managed to push-start the vehicle which broke down at
the parking lot of the old cinema in Seria town.
According to reports, the victim and
his friend working in a private company at Jalan Sungai Pandan went in
the company's vehicle to Seria town yesterday morning to buy some
items. They parked at the parking lot where they came across the
vehicle whose engine failed to start.
Assisting the driver, they pushed the
vehicle in an attempt to start the engine.
They succeeded, however, the victim
unexpectedly collapsed, panicking his friend and passers-by who
offered assistance to the man in the 7.50am incident which attracted a
large crowd of onlookers.
The friend phoned the police nearby
and eight police personnel came to control the situation and made an
emergency call for an ambulance.
However, the victim, who has been
working as a mechanic in Brunei for about seven years, was pronounced
dead as soon as the ambulance arrived at Suri Seri Begawan hospital. A
post-mortem will be done today to determine the cause of death.
The death shocked his friends and
colleagues, who said the victim was due to return to his hometown in
