Seminar To Lure Chinese To Brunei

Begawan - Brunei Tourism Director Sheikh Jamaluddin bin Sheikh
Mohammad said he expects the number of Chinese tourists to Brunei to
increase by ten per cent in the coming years, in a seminar yesterday
at 105 Conference Hall of the International Convention and Exhibition
Centre in Nanning, China.
"The number of Chinese tourists has
been encouraging, and the number has surpassed 43,000 people," said
Sheikh Jamaluddin, while revealing the beauty of Brunei Darussalam to
the Chinese participants in the seminar entitled `Business and
Investment Opportunities in Brunei Darussalam' and `Tourism in
Brunei'.
Sheikh Jamaluddin was also confident
that the number of tourists coming from China "will keep on increasing
in the future". "The Chinese tourists will spend two to three days in
Brunei, and we have the package to cater for these tourists,' said the
director.
The Brunei Tourism Director also said
that Chinese tourists are one of the market segments that the Tourism
Board is looking into, having held four trade shows in China.
Meanwhile, Hj Momin Sawal, Head of
Promotion and Facilitation Services at the Ministry of Industry and
Primary Resources (MIPR) cum the Vice-Secretary General of China-Asean
Expo introduced the business and investment incentives to the
participants.

Momin also highlighted the strong political and economic stability and
the high literacy rate that has produced the well-educated workforce
that Brunei enjoys.
Brunei will reduce the hassle for
investors to look for new sites, because of the strategic location and
readiness to occupy industrial sites.
Meanwhile, Ray Lei, one of the
participants in the seminar was impressed with the natural heritage of
Brunei and was keen to make a trip to Brunei in the future.
"Brunei is very beautiful ...
especially with the adventurous tropical rainforest," said the local
university lecturer.
"I would like to go to Brunei someday
and have a closer look at the cultural performances or wedding shows,"
Ray Lei added.
The seminar was chaired by Dato
Paduka Hj Mohd Hamid bin Hj Mohd Jaafar, Permanent Secretary at MIPR,
and hosted by Mr Mu Hong, Vice-Governor of Guangxi' Zhuang Autonomous
Region.
Also present were Abdurahman Abdul
Aziz and Pg Aki Ismasufian from the Brunei Economic Development Board,
Hjh Asmah Hj Saman, Managing Director of Semaun Holdings Sdn Bhd, and
