By Kartika Rahman
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Brunei Council Hall in Bandar Seri Begawan
recently received its first visit from an educational institute: a
32-member contingent from Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rizal (MTSSR).
The students are currently taking the
Property Management Programme National Diploma in the third semester
of their second year. This also includes Law of Property, which
briefly touches on how policies are passed.
Therefore it was useful for them to
visit the Council Hall for some first-hand information from officers
of the Legislative Touncil Department.
"This trip should be made an example
by other educational institutes to encourage students to learn more
about the processes of government and parliament," said Secretary of
Cabinet Ministers' Legislative Council cum Clerk of Legislative
Council, Pehin Dato Paduka Hi 7udin Hj Asar, as he welcomed the
contingent.
This was followed by a briefing from
Special Duties Officer t-lj Adanan Hj Man-gong on the Legislative
Council's functions, Acting Public Relations Officer
Hjh
Sa'niah Hj Muhd Husain on its structure, and finally Pehin Haji Judin
himself on how acts are established as well as its various procedures.
The students were also taken on a tour of the Council Hall.
They saw the chamber where hearings
take place and the library, as well as getting the opportunity to
witness a council meeting. The visitors were accompanied by their
Course Coordinator Nadia Hj Adenan and Assistant Hjh Rashidah Hj Ghani.
