Foreigners Held For Immigration
Offences

Begawan - Nineteen foreign workers were apprehended yesterday
on suspicion of violating immigration laws.
The Law Enforcement Section,
Department of Immigration and National Registration, targeted rented
houses and workers' quarters in Kg Jerudong, Kg Jangsak, Kg Kiarong,
Perpindahan Kg Rimba Gadong, Kg Salambigar and a building on JIn
Teraja in the capital.
The operation, led by the Assistant
Director of Immigration and Chief Senior Immigration Officer, involved
21 personnel.
Four special passes and one summons
letter were issued.
Held were five Bangladeshi, one Thai,
seven Indonesian men and three women, and a Filipino and a Filipina.
Some of them are detained at the BSB police station.
A 40-year-old Bangladeshi found to
have no documents was caught in a rented room in Perpindahan Kg. Rimba,
Gadong with two other Bangladeshis. The one renting the room will be
investigated for harbouring an immigration offender.
A worker who ran away from his
employer was found to have a working pass expired since April 14,
2004.
Another Bangladeshi whose photocopied
special pass expired since July 19, 2003, was caught hiding in a
rented room in Kg Kiarong.
A 29-year-old Indonesian whose chop
to leave-expired on Sept 13, 2006 was caught in a rented room on Jalan
Teraja.
A 28-year-old Indonesian who admitted
his immigration pass has expired for more than three months was caught
in a building on Jalan Teraja, along with a 32-year old Indonesian.
The latter said his passport given to an Indonesian "agent" had an
immigration pass that expired three months ago.
A 19-year-old Thai was caught in Kg
Jangsak in the early morning while waiting on the roadside. His
immigration pass had expired since Sept 18, 2006.
Two cases were referred to the
Religious Enforcement Section.
A 39-year-old local female was caught
with a 38-yearold Indonesian, with an expired visit pass, in a rented
room on Jalan Teraja.
In a rented room in a building in
Gadong, a Muslim Indonesian woman was found sleeping in the same room
with two Indonesian Muslim rnen.
They were all issued with a special
