Officials Visit School

Begawan - The importance of achievements and improvements of
religious schools was highlighted again yesterday by Deputy Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Awang Hj
Ishaaq bin Haji Abdullah, during a visit to the Pengiran Anak Amal
Ummi Kalthum Al Islam Religious School in Mulaut. Accompanying him
were officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Upon arrival, the deputy permanent
secretary was greeted by principal of the religious school, Cikgu
Maladiah binte Hj Liman, who briefed the entourage on the school's
goals, organisational structure, academic planning and achievement as
well as development of teachers in the school and its activities.
Students' daily activities include a
morning gathering, singing the national anthem, reading the school
pledge as well as reciting the 'doa' and `Doha' prayers. Students also
participate in cleaning campaigns and reading of the 'Surah Yassin'.
Also emphasised was the school's '3K
Programme' that involves cleanliness, health, beauty and gardening to
ensure cleanliness, peace and safety in the school's compound.
At end of the briefing, a question
and answer session was held between Dato Paduka Awang Hj Ishaaq and
the religious school teachers.
Dato
Paduka Awang Hj Ishaaq spoke on school matters and improvement of
students' academic achievement especially in the Primary 6 exam
certificate for this year.
The Pengiran Anak Putri Amal Ummi
Kalthum At Islam Religious School was established in 1983 under the
name Sengkurong Religious School. With the consent of His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, it was officially
opened November 10, 1983 and renamed Pengiran Anak Puteri Ummi Kalthum
