Brunei Ruler Conferred Laos’ Highest Medal

Vientiane – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei was conferred Laos' highest medal, Phoxay Lane Xang by the Lao President Mr Khamtay Siphandone.

The medal is in recognition of His Majesty's remarkable efforts in enhancing the friendly ties and cooperation between Brunei and Laos.

His Majesty in turn conferred the President of Laos with the Bintang Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati, DK.

His Majesty then received greetings from Laotian government officials.

Likewise, the Lao President received similar greetings from members of the Brunei Delegation.

The ceremony was telecast live by National Television of Laos.

Later that evening, His Majesty Sultan of Brunei attended an informal working dinner, hosted by the Prime Minister of Laos, Bounnhang Vorachith, in honour of the heads of State and Government attending the 10th Asean Summit.

The working dinner was held at the Lao Plaza Hotel in the Laotian capital.

Accompanying His Majesty at the function was His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Brunei ruler’s itinerary in Laos is packed with official engagements.

For example on the first day of his stay in Vientiane, His Majesty attended the medal awarding ceremony.

The ceremony was held on Sunday at the Presidential Palace.

On arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by the Deputy Director of Protocol, Office of the President.

At the holding room, His Majesty was greeted by the President of Laos,

Prior to the medal decoration ceremony, His Majesty had a bilateral meeting with the President of Laos.
