By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Empire Hotel & Country Club welcomed several
top journalists from Sydney on Monday evening.
The group was welcomed by General
Manager of the hotel, Ms Anne Busfield and Director of PR &
Marketing Communications, Ms Jennifer Kang. They will be staying in
the country until November 18 for a familiarisation trip hosted by
the hotel, Royal Brunei Airlines and Brunei Tourism.
The groups are headed by Public
Relations Officer for RBA Australia, Bill Gray and RBA Sales &
Marketing Manager Sydney, Christopher Lukehurst-Watkins.
Other members of the group are
Charles Miranda from the Daily Telegraph, Martin Kelly from the
Travel Trade Newspaper, Sheree Young from the AAP News Service,
Michael Walters from the Australian House & Garden and Lisa
Muxworthy from the Cumberland newspaper group.
The trip is also held in
conjunction with the launch of RBA's new route to Sydney. The trip
is hoped to provide an opportunity for the journalists to explore
Brunei's tourist attractions including the Water V llage, Royal
Regalia building, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Jame' Asr Mosque,
Jerudong Park & Country Club Playground, the Temburong District and
many more.
The group will also be taken on a
tour of The Empire Hotel by Ms Kang to observe the variety of rooms,
suites and villas as well as the impressive range of sporting and
recreational facilities available.
"We are delighted to welcome
Sydney's top journalists. This trip will give them the opportunity
to witness Brunei's culture and experience several tourist
destinations in the country.
"We are also confident that this
will increase awareness of the potential of Brunei as a tourist
attraction," said Ms Kang.
During a welcome dinner hosted by
the hotel at Spaghettini, the group expressed their satisfaction
with the timing of the trip, which coincided with the Aidilfitri
celebrations, as this gives them the opportunity to greet His
Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during
the open house at the Istana.
"Brunei Darussalam has tremendous
potential to be a great family destination with its peaceful and
relaxing environment," Bill Gray said. --
