Temburong Converts Hold Terawih,
Bertedarus Prayers
Temburong
– Converts of Kampong Sibut in Temburong District held Sunat
Terawih prayers and Bertedarus at the kampong prayer hall to glorify
the month of Ramadan.
The Kampong Sibut Prayer Hall is the
centre of religious activities for converts residing in Mukim Amo.
The converts in Mukim Amo learn to
read the Muqadam and the Al-Quran by attending classes arranged by the
Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Islam encourages its followers to
study in depth the teachings of the Al-Quran in particular during the
month of Ramadan to evoke blessings from Allah the Almighty.
Two converts from Kampong Sibut could
now read the Al-Quran well after attending such classes.
Awang
Al-Hussaini Bin Orang Kaya Haji Nordin, Imam of the Kampong Sibut
Prayer Hall, said various religious activities are in the line up to
further enhanced religious knowledge amongst the converts.
Young children and youths are not
exempted from attending the Bertedarus.
The act of fasting has taught
converts in the district on the benefits of going without food during
the day time.
Dayang
Hamidah Binti Mohammad Kassim assured that although she had just
converted to Islam, abstaining from food and drink is no ordeal to
her.
