Indonesians Fined For Stealing
Aluminium Pipes

Begawan - Five Indonesian nationals, aged between 23 and 34
years-old, who pleaded guilty to stealing aluminium pipes weighing
1,780 kilos, were each fined $1,500 or 2 months imprisonment in
default of payment, by the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Sandiwirya, 34, Sunarna, 25, Edi Suriadi, 27, Ali Anwar, 31, and Andy
Taufik, 23, are all employees of Hasbullah Daud Sdn Bhd, where they
work as labourers.

Pg Hj Bahrin said on the October 25 this year at about 11:30 am, the
defendants took the aluminium pipes from the Hasbullah Daud site that
they were working on without the permission of their employers.
She said the defendants told Sugiyana,
the driver from the Hasbullah Daud building site, to take the
aluminium pipes to be sold at Syarikat Perindustrian Dan
Perkembangan,
to which he agreed.
The defendants loaded a lorry with
the registration number BN4238 belonging to the company Sugiyana then
drove the said lorry to the place where they were to sell the
aluminium.
Pg Nina Jasmine said the defendants
managed to sell the aluminium for $124 and the money was then divided
between all of them.
The foreman of the Hasbullah Daud
site, Goh See Siing saw the lorry being driven off the site with the
stolen aluminium. At about 1:20 pm on the same day, Goh asked Sugiyana
what he was doing with the aluminium and he told him that the
defendants had asked him to sell the aluminium at the said company,
which he did so and has passed the sale proceeds to the defendants.
The defendants were then arrested on
the same day, where they confessed to the offence to the police, said
Pg Nina Jasmine yesterday.
