Shoppers alerted on bomb scare in
Jakarta
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bruneians have been forewarned to take
extra care when travelling to Jakarta, Indonesia to do their Hari Raya
shopping.
The Jakarta Post reported a few days
ago that a total of eight bombs were found in a hotel room in Central
Jakarta and the police alleged last Sunday that they could be linked
to Friday's bomb blast at Petra church in Koja, North Jakarta.
Many Bruneians choose to go to
Jakarta for their Hari Raya shopping and some may even stay in hotels
at Central Jakarta, observers said.
The bomb scare should serve as a
reminder to Bruneians to stay at home due to escalating violence
overseas, they pointed out.
Businessmen normally go to Jakarta to
get their stock for Hari Raya and the local people find Jakarta a
shopping haven due to better prices.
