Radio ads get more air play

The Director of RTB disclosed
that there has a 40% increase in advertising over the radio in
the last twelve months, pushing aside TV to become the major
medium for broadcast advertisements in the country.
Furthermore, the period from
early this year to October last has seen a 30% rise in the
number of companies that advertised their wares and services via
radio and TV, according to a research conducted, Pg Dato Paduka
Hj Ismail added.
Pg Dato Hj Ismail was speaking
at a ceremony to present prizes to the ten winners of the "Kuiz
Perdana Ria 2000" organised to commemorate His Majesty's
birthday this year.
"Radio and TV advertising
is an effective medium to boost sales," the director said.

sponsored by Worldwide Motors in a gala held at the sponsor's
main showroom in Beribi yesterday
According to Hj Morshidi Hj
Salleh, chairman of the quiz, the contest began in July till
September 2000 with six questions pertaining to His Majesty the
Sultan and the history of the Sultanate.
"The public response is
overwhelming. A total of 30,000 forms were distributed, out of
which 25,000 entries were received. However only 11,000 entries
were accurate and eligible for the draw."
Hj Morshidi said the prize
presentation ceremony was actually supposed to take place after
the quiz but then sponsor ran out of the car. A new shipment had
to come before the ceremony could resume.
Meanwhile, $8,000 was also
collected by Worldwide Motors in conjunction with the quiz,
which had been donated to the Orphans' Fund. This year marked
the second time that Worldwide Motors had sponsored the quiz,
which was aired over both national TV and radio.
Sponsors for the other prizes
in the quiz are Masros Electrical Company and Adison Marketing
Services.
