Indoor Tug-Of-War Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Committee
of National Tug-of-War last Friday organised its first ever Indoor
tug-of-war competition, which follows the international system used
by the International Tug-of-War Federation (TWIF) at Muhibbah Hall
in Berakas. The competition was held in conjunction with His
Majesty's 63rd birthday Anniversary.

The Technical
Committee of the National Tug-of-War in collaboration with
Brunei-Muara District Office and Negara Brunei Darussalam
Tug-of-War Association invited 10 selected teams, but only
five teams responded to the challenge.
In the competition,
Persatuan G-16 Jerudong emerged as champions gaining 12
points after winning all their matches. Second place went to
Ministry of Development with 9 points, third place to Royal
Brunei Police with 6 points, and Prison Department in fourth
place with 3 points and Mukim Lumapas in 5th place with no
points.

said the winning team will
automatically represent the country in the upcoming
Asean Invitational Tug-of-War competition to be held in
Singapore in June.
He said the competition
was aimed at introducing the indoor tug-of-war sport
using the international system. The organising committee
hopes that through the competition they can encourage
the younger generation to participate and understand the
system used at the international level.
Present to witness the
competition was Co-Chairman of the National Tug-of-War
competition Pg Haji Jadid bin Pg Haji Omarali and Dr
Chan Hiang Heng @ Sui Kiat. --
