Organisers of Climbathon ’08 Digs

Begawan - Blue Waters Event Management, the main organiser of
the ls` Brunei Tasek Climbathon 2008, has agreed to sponsor over
$30,000 in prizes, gifts and logistics for this highly anticipated,
upcoming event.
The climbathon is said to be so
massive that it is being supported by over 350 volunteers from eight
government agencies and over 20 private sector companies and
associations. Committee members conducted a final dry run for the
event on Wednesday morning. To date, 260 runners have registered for
the event that will be held at Tasek Lama this Sunday.
According to Bluewaters Event
Management Director Catherina Goodenough, the parking area will be
closed to the public on the day of the race.
At present, works to widen the
parking lot have been completed. The tents, performance platform and
backdrop will be erected by Saturday.
Meanwhile, participants are advised
to collect their goodie bags at the Tasek Lama Recreational Park
between 2.30 pm and 6.15 pm today. On the day of the race, they
should report as early as 6.30 am.
This race is like no other, where
it will include performances by the Dusun ethnic group, and others
such as Wushu, Kendo, Karate, Silat, Aerobics by Zunic and Aikido.
The person who can complete the race within 27 minutes will walk
away with the $5,000 grand prize.
All participants will receive a
certificate of participation, and individuals who complete the race
within 30 minutes will have this information included in their
certificate.
Sponsored T-shirts, snacks and
souvenirs will be distributed to all participants, including fun
runners.
