Public Lecture On Media & Communication At UBD

Bandar Seri Begawan - Prof Theo Van Leeuwen from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, will be delivering a public lecture on "New Careers in Media & Communication" next Tuesday (May 27) at 2.30pm.

The upcoming lecture, which will be held at the Central Lecture Theatre (CLT 1.17), is being organised by the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

The lecture will be of interest to those who wish to work or who are working in journalism, advertising, marketing and public relations, or any job where contact or communication with the general public is an important factor.

It will also discuss three new directions in media and communication, and the new career opportunities that arise from them such as communication consultancy, document design, as well as online and visual journalism.

All three centre around the idea of convergence and require multiple interdisciplinary and cross-media skills.

Prof Theo is the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Technology in Sydney.

He is also an external examiner for the BA Degree Programme in English Language Studies offered by the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics (DELAL), which covers three main areas in linguistics, literature and communication.
