IT Learning Crosses Boundaries

Begawan - The teacher's role in the teaching and learning
process has been greatly improved through the use of ICT, said Awang
Othman bin Hj Simbran, the head of the International Affairs Unit,
Ministry of Education.
ICT
expands learning beyond the four walls of the school and classroom,
and the physical separation between students and teachers due to
distance, social, economic and geographical barriers, said Awang
Othman, who is also the Deputy Chairperson II for the 2nd Regional
Workshop on ICT Integration training of the Next Generation of
Teachers.
"ICT is cross-cutting the entire
education reform of many economies, a critical element in achieving
issues which include education for all, equality of educational
opportunity, life long learning, education for human rights and the
positive role of ICT in achieving 211 century competency," he said.
Seventy workshop participants
received their certificates of completion from Dk Hjh Nastoli binti
PSI Pg Hj Ismail, Director Generall of Education, and Deputy
Chairperson I.
Trainer Les Foltos of Puget Sound Centre highlighted
three important points from the workshop: Collaboration,
continuously working together and keeping contact with each other.
"It is critical for participants
that when they get back to work and get stuck on a problem, they can
contact each other for assistance."
Participants came from Malaysia,
China, Lao PDR, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, India, Indonesia,
Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and host Brunei Darussalam. -- Courtesy of Borneo
