IET Brunei Set To Hold First
International Conference

Begawan - The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
Brunei Darussalam Network, will be organising its first
international conference at the Rizqun International Hotel, from May
26-28.
The institution has called all its
members to be part of the upcoming event.
According to a press
release, the conference, themed "Sustainable Energy Management in
the Era of Information and Communication Technology", is supported
by the Energy Division at the Prime Minister's Office and the
Department of Electrical Services (DES).

Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato
Paduka Haji Bakar is expected to attend the event as the guest of
honour.
The objectives of the conferences
are: to facilitate international collaboration and information
sharing in areas relevant to ICT, energy and energy management; to
raise awareness or serve as a reminder of the world's energy
problems; to provide a platform for researchers to showcase new
energy technology; to address the world's energy problems and their
resolutions; to increase the cross-fertilisation of ideas on
capitalising ICT in energy management; to provide opportunities for
delegates to interact face-to-face; and to establish business or
research relations while finding regional partners for future
collaboration.
At the conference, IET President
and British Energy Research Centre Executive Director John Loughhead
will deliver a keynote speech.

The IET Brunei Darussalam Network
was inaugurated on November 29, 1997, following the merge of the
Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of
