Survey Dept Bags First Three Places In KKC

Bandar Seri Begawan - In an effort to further improve the departments' work, efficiency, productivity and to provide better quality service, the Ministry of Development (MoD) yestefday held a Quality Work Circle Convention or KKC (Konvensyen Kumpulan Kerja Cemerlang) at its Bilik Betabur Hall.

The winner of the KKC was MUTU team from the Survey Department who got 63.95 points for their presentation entitled "Kelewatan Menghantar Kerja-Kerja Ukur Luar" (Late Submissions for Outside Survey Work). In second and third place were also teams from the Survey Department, namely PETA with 62.40 points and SAEH with 60.63 points respectively.

Present as the guest ofhonour was Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Said bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Hashim, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development.

The event began with the reading of Surah al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat, followed by opening remarks by the chairman of the convention, Awang Haji Mohd Zin bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoD and a speech by the guest of honour.

In his opening remarks, Awang Haji Mohd Zin said that this year, seven groups from four departments participated in the KKC convention. Even though this is an increase from only four groups last year, it is still less than what was expected as the MoD has 11 departments and eight units under it.

Meanwhile, Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Said in his speech said that the goal of the KKC convention is to further expand and improve the presentation of services so as to excel in the field of civil service.

"Among the important aspects or goals of this KKC is to increase and improve each organisation's work performance, quality and productivity so as to establish the ministry's goal of being the "First Choice" in providing civil service. The ideas or suggestions made in this KKC may have relevance to the departments or units and could help in lessening or even rectifying their problems," he said.

The Quality Work Circle Convention or KKC is an annual activity for departments under the Ministry of Development and the winners will now advance to represent the MoD at the national level.

The convention ended in the afternoon with a prize giving ceremony by the guest of honour. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
